Have you always dreamed of becoming a blogger? Think you have what it takes? If you have a knack for creative writing and spend every moment possible on social media, then the (PAID) internship of your dreams awaits. Hello! my name is Brigette. I’ve had the pleasure of interning with I Heart Old Towne Orange for a year now. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Now, the time has come to pass this amazing opportunity on to the next! I Heart Old Towne Orange is on the hunt for the next superstar intern, and it could be you! Intrigued? Keep reading!
Short disclaimer: this is not your ordinary internship. This AWESOME opportunity does not include running errands and answering phone calls. Being the first to discover new hotspots and happenings in Old Towne Orange is only the beginning. You will also learn what hard work it takes to effectively promote a brand through social media marketing...all while allowing your creativity to shine.
So, what do the duties of an I Heart Old Towne Orange intern entail? Exploring and promoting within the OTO community for starters! You’ll be connecting with followers through social media daily. That means knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter is a MUST! Witty/creative writing skills and proper grammar usage are also important traits since you’ll create weekly blogs, newsletters, and daily social media posts. In addition, you’ll often mingle with local businesses and community members. Learning about their products and services and sharing them through creative methods is key!
I have to brag, just a little. Interning at IHOTO has been such a rewarding experience that I'll never forget. Not only have I had the time of my life writing about everything our community has to offer, but I’ve also learned so much from Kelly and everyone on the Get Community team. This internship is a perfect lead into a marketing or advertising position. It prepares you and teaches you several things that will be necessary to know when going into a full-time position.
This position's daily activities include but are not limited to:
- Checking in with social media outlets
- Looking for events in OTO
- Posting about events, happenings, new restaurants or drinks you found
- Scheduling posts for later dates
- Responding to community members
- Writing fun, exciting weekly blogs
- Composing a weekly newsletter
- Using Canva to create beautiful images to use on social media and the newsletter
- Going into the community to eat, drink and play....then post about it!
