An Old Towne Orange Birthday Bash

In this city that so many have traveled to visit and so many of us call home, we are so excited to share that Old Towne Orange turns 130 years old on April 6, 2018! In celebration of this grand birthday, the City of Orange wants to invite you all to a birthday party on Saturday April 7th.

The City of Orange is expecting a big turn out due to the love we all have for this city. If you missed our blog post where we asked you all to tell us why you heart Old Towne Orange, we had some amazing submissions. One of my favorites was from Michael who said:

Hi! My name is Micheal and I live in Orange with my wife and son. We love Orange especially Old Towne. We currently live on the Orange/Villa Park border. My wife’s family has been in Orange since the late 1800’s (around 1884 I believe). My son is 7 months old and he was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Old Towne Orange. He is the 6th generation to live in the city Orange as well as 6th generation to be baptized at St. John’s. My wife’s family name is Fitschen and they have been rooted in Orange for over 100 years. I don’t know if you hear of these types of families still living in the same city like they do for such a long time. It’s so special and we really enjoy Old Town. It is amazing to take our son out and show him the rich history that exists today. He is a part of that Orange legacy through his family who made their mark on the city.

Thank you again for the submission Michael. If you are interested, you can read that full blog post HERE, and then come back and keep reading!

When I moved to Old Towne Orange, I was unaware of all of the history that rested in this town. Through this internship, I have had to opportunity to do my research and learn the deep seeded roots of Old Towne and why it is so special to so many people. I remember a few months ago, I even took a stroll down Chapman Avenue which lead me to the discovery of the fountain that used to flow in the middle of Plaza Park between the years of 1887 and 1937. I am so happy to be a citizen of Old Towne Orange and be celebrating its 130th year soon!

So what will this Old Towne Orange birthday party entail, you ask? The City of Orange is happy to announce the Grand Re-opening of Yorba Park and Dog Park. Both Yorba Park and the Dog Park closed in 2016 for a total refurbishment. There is now new landscaping, infrastructure enhancements, and even all new amenities. At 10AM, they will cut the ribbon to welcome all of Orange’s residents to Yorba Park and the Dog Park. There will be children’s activities, community booths, and birthday cake!

The event will be held from 9:30AM to 11:30AM at Yorba Park, which is located at 190 S Yorba St. They cannot wait to see you there!

  1. I swear I read somewhere else that the grand reopening of Yorba Park/City of Orange Birthday Bash was scheduled for Friday April 6th not on Saturday April 7th. Can anyone please confirm?

  2. Orange’s birthday is the 6th but the celebration is scheduled for the 7th.
