The Tree Is About To Be Lit: Tree Lighting Ceremony

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog. This is an exciting time in Old Towne Orange. Holiday drinks are in at Starbucks, garland is lining the entire circle, and more holiday events are happening than ever! If you haven’t seen our events page recently, be sure to take a look. In the month of December, there’s a succulent workshop tomorrow at The Potting Shed, Holiday Boutique Book Sale at Orange Public library this weekend, DIY Calligraphy Wrapping Paper Workshop (also at The Potting Shed), winter concerts at St. John’s Church and so much more! You can never be bored in Old Towne Orange!

And as for this weekend, one of the biggest and most festive OTO holiday events is commencing: The 2018 Tree Lighting Ceremony and Candlelight Choir Procession! This year is the 24th annual tree lighting ceremony and is a huge event in OTO! So what’s going to happen at the event?

Starting at 3:30PM, there will be photo opportunities with Santa Claus himself, holiday crafts and holiday games for friends and family to enjoy. And if you get hungry, food will be available for purchase by local non-profit organizations for a small charge. This is a great opportunity to support our community in Orange, have fun with the family, and get some great pictures for a holiday card!

If you cannot make it for the pre-tree lighting fun, the actual tree lighting starts at 5:15PM! After the lighting, the Candlelight Choir procession will begin making its way through the Plaza, accompanied by a full orchestra under the direction of Michael Short. This is sure to be a magical night of music, lights, and holiday celebration. And the best part? This is a FREE event!

The City of Orange is thrilled to invite the community to the Plaza for the 2018 tree lighting! Have a great weekend everyone and we will see you around towne!
