1888 Center Cafe Opens!

The 1888 Center teamed up with Contra Coffee & Tea to create a pretty unique experience by offering 18 specialty coffees and teas on tap. I went to see what all the commotion was about and share it with you myself!

For my order, I stuck with a coffee and ordered the Dirty Horchata which was a mix of horchata and dark brew. It was delish and worth the $5 price tag. I highly recommend making the 1888 Center your morning coffee or tea stop, you won’t regret it!

The 1888 Center itself is such a great place to hang out and get some work done. The staff was so friendly and I found myself feeling welcome the moment I walked through the door. They were working diligently but I snagged a chance to talk to them and got the scoop on what’s to come! The educational podcast, The Sounds The Stories is having a live recording with Bossa ZuZu on August 25th where you can listen to them perform and engage in entertaining discussions. If you’re an avid writer like myself, then check out the Summer Writing Project 2017  that I was told about so you can submit a copy of a chapter and win the chance to get your novella published with cover artwork by David Moscati. Submissions will be taken until August 31st and the winner will be announced on September 5th.

If you’ve got time to spare, they have rows of books you can purchase and read while you’re sippin’ on your tasty caffeine fix. These books are meant to fill the shelves with independent presses, influential storytellers, and literary journals. Your very own 1888 is a publisher of the classic dime novels and contemporary novellas that you can find on a small section of the bookshelf.  If you have anything to ask, there’s always someone on hand to help. On the opposite wall, they have an art gallery of OTO’s very own history that explores the architectural landscape of Orange from the 1880s to the 1980s.

Make sure that 1888 Center is on your list of regular hot spots to hang in OTO and challenge yourself to try all 18 drinks. Since Contra Coffee & Tea is hanging their hat with us here in Orange, they’d like you to join them on August 26th to celebrate their grand opening. Join their event on Facebook to get the scoop on their opening event.  I know I’ll be hanging out there myself and I’d love to see you there!
