Take a look at this local In-Home Speech Therapy business run by Laurisa Schwer, MS CCC-SLP, a speech and language pathologist located right here in OTO! After a wonderful interview with her, here’s the scoop!
Q: Tell me a little about yourself! What kind of business do you run?
I am a speech and language pathologist with over twelve years of successful experience who provides excellent treatment and evaluation of stuttering, speaking and understanding language, articulation, and social skills within the comfort of your own home! In my spare time, for some reason that I still have yet to fully comprehend, I have been motivated to train for my first half marathon!
Q: How long have you been living in OTO, and what experience/training have you had in this field?
I had wanted to live in OTO for a number of years and about a year and a half ago was fortunate to make that a reality. I absolutely LOVE it!!
I knew that I wanted to be a Speech Pathologist from the age of 16, so I picked my college experience to provide me with the best education and training possible. I have had the privilege of working in both private practice and the public school system which has provided me the opportunity to work with children with mild to severe impairments. I have found little that rivals the exhilaration I see as the kids I teach experience success and learn new skills. Their eyes completely light up and so do I.
Q: Where are you located? Is there parking available?
One of the things that sets me apart from other practitioners is that I come to you. There is no hassle in getting to me for your child’s session. I make it as easy as possible.
Q: What services/treatments specifically do you offer?
I provide effective treatment and assessment of the production and comprehension of language, sound production, social skill development, and stuttering for preschoolers, children, and teens.
Q: Do you have a website address or any other social media account or contact through which clients can reach you?
I am in the process of creating a Facebook page.
Q: What are your favorite things about Old Towne Orange?
It is truly a family atmosphere! I love wandering around a neighborhood where you can talk to everyone and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. The shops and restaurants in the Circle are fantastic. And I love eating my way through the Street Fair!
Q: What kind of special and unique approaches do you use in working with children that set your business apart from the rest?
My motto is “Turning Fun and Laughter into Growth.” When a child is having fun, hard work is easier, and learning, progress, and growth happen more quickly!
Q: What age range do you specialize in working with?
I specialize in working with birth to three and elementary school aged children, and teens.
Q: Do accept any kind of health insurance? What do you charge?
I provide all of the families I help with receipts that they then submit to their Insurance Company for reimbursement of services.
I am happy to discuss details of how best to ensure each child’s greatest success and fees with each family individually.
Q: How should clients get in touch with you for consultations/evaluations/ treatment?
Families can reach me at 714.904.8003 or [email protected]
Thanks Laurisa and best of luck on your first half-marathon, that will be quite an accomplishment!
