Happy happy Thursday! We hope that everyone had a safe and celebratory Independence Day! We are blessed to be living in Old Towne, Orange, Orange County, California, USA. For the past month, we have been bringing you all the best art to find in Old Towne Orange. From the fine art to the performance art and the amazing architecture in our town, art can truly be found all around us. If you love looking at fine art, check out that blog here! If you love listening to live music, visit the performance art blog or check out our events page for more musical events coming up. And lastly, if you want a history lesson of the architecture in OTO, click here!
Throughout this month, we have taken it upon ourselves to find another type of art for our fourth blog post of this series: food! The food options in Old Towne Orange are abundant and can truly be beautiful. The attention to detail in the craft of food preparation and presentation is amazing… and something we definitely take notice of!
There are so many establishments that prepare beautiful dishes… so here are just a few of our monthly favorites (and all-time favs). Here is our month of Old Towne Orange food that is definitely a work of art to us.
Provisions Market
Provisions has a wonderful, simple menu to please. They offer sandwiches, grilled cheese, breakfasts, and the best avocado toast ever! I reviewed this toast a little under a year ago – and had to come back for more! This avocado toast comes with avo mash, watermelon radish, pickled shallots, and fried capers on top of sourdough bread. Ummm… YUM! And so, so beautiful. This avo toast is a so nicely plated – it’s truly an art piece.
For a heavier option, I went with the egg and tomato sandwich which was filling and flavorful. This sandwich would be perfect for breakfast, lunch, or brunch! (PS: Make sure to stop by Portola after your meal for an espresso).
Impact Juice Bar
I always think acai bowls are so aesthetically pleasing, it almost hurts to eat them and mess them up. However, 2 weeks ago, I tried the regular acai bowl with coconut, granola and berries and the nutty bowl which is made with your choice of almond or peanut butter. These bowls were so delicious and made with so much care, only a true food artist could craft these.
Avila’s El Ranchito
One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Old Towne Orange is Avila’s. Built in a historic church, Avila’s has great indoor seating and patio seating (we went with the latter). Avila’s offers all of your Mexican food favorites – with unlimited chips and salsa to start – with a beautiful ambiance to match. I ordered the avocado bowl (because we just can’t get enough avocado) and it was a healthy and delicious choice for dinner! The avo bowl is so beautiful, it looks like artwork to us!
Haven Gastropub
Can we talk about Haven for a second? If you’ve eaten there, then you know their Gastropub fare is mouth-watering. I’ve not had a bad meal there, to be honest with you. They have a few new items on the menu these days, and these Meatballs are one of them. Holy moly, these are the most savory pestolicious bites I’ve had in recent memory. Please, go and try them. It’s a great share plate and you will let out a small sigh on your first bite, promise!!
Orange Home Grown
What is more lovely than supporting local farmers and artisans? Orange Home Grown has the freshest crops around, that always make for great iPhone wallpapers and social media cover photos. One walk around the market will inspire the inner photographer in all of us!
There is so much more art-inspired food around OTO, what is your favorite dish?
