I had the honest pleasure of meeting the newest family business to open in Old Towne Orange today. The shop is called Vintiques and I’d say that it’s…inspired. Owners Irma and Ken Haraughty opened up shop just a couple of months ago in the space where The Hope Chest used to be, just around the corner from Pakua.

It’s no secret that one of my favorite things to do is to spend a relaxing afternoon strolling through the Orange historic district. As I make my way around the circle, a “must stop” always includes Country Roads, where the merchandise selection never fails to inspire. Today was no different. My intent was not to find the next treasure to feature in the latest Antique Addict blog. But that’s exactly what happened!

Julep’s Floral & Gifts, once located on the Northern side of Chapman, has relocated to its new home, now tucked behind Down Home Antiques. What hasn’t changed is the true southern hospitality Owner Linda Hodo extends to everyone who visits her small quaint store. It’s easy to feel like you’re part of the family while you’re there — which is exactly what they strive for.

Have you been to Mirror Mirror yet? I had the pleasure of learning about this new consignment store that opened up a few months back and so I sent my fabulous intern, Richa, off to stop by and check it out! Only about a block from the circle, Mirror Mirror is a store full of new AND consignment clothing for both men and women. Here’s the scoop, through Richa’s words!

A return visit to DOWN HOME ANTIQUES reminds me why this store’s name fits so perfectly! Down Home Antiques’ welcoming warm feeling is evident the moment I walk in, complete with a characteristically enthusiastic “hello” and genuine smile. (Don’t let the sign near their cash register that reads “If you are grouchy, irritable or just plain mean, there will be a $10 charge for putting up with you” fool you because owner Peggy Arbenz’s staff know all about customer service “hospitality” here.)

As I entered Eikon home I knew this was going to be a special shopping experience. From the soothing music playing softly in the background to the unique greeting I received from the owner, John Martelli, my expectation did not disappoint. “Enjoy yourself while here” he said and indeed I did.
