It’s Vintage, It’s Antiques, It’s a Boutique…It’s Vintiques in Old Towne Orange

I had the honest pleasure of meeting the newest family business to open in Old Towne Orange today. The shop is called Vintiques and I’d say that it’s…inspired. Owners Irma and Ken Haraughty opened up shop just a couple of months ago in the space where The Hope Chest used to be, just around the corner from Pakua.

I HEART ANTIQUES: Path always leads back to COUNTRY ROADS

It’s no secret that one of my favorite things to do is to spend a relaxing afternoon strolling through the Orange historic district. As I make my way around the circle, a “must stop” always includes Country Roads, where the merchandise selection never fails to inspire. Today was no different. My intent was not to find the next treasure to feature in the latest Antique Addict blog. But that’s exactly what happened!

I HEART ANTIQUES: Shop Around the Corner!

Julep’s Floral & Gifts, once located on the Northern side of Chapman, has relocated to its new home, now tucked behind Down Home Antiques. What hasn’t changed is the true southern hospitality Owner Linda Hodo extends to everyone who visits her small quaint store. It’s easy to feel like you’re part of the family while you’re there — which is exactly what they strive for.

I HEART ANTIQUES: A Paris kind of day in Old Towne Orange

After spending a wonderful afternoon having tea at Paris In A Cup, I drift out the door, daydreaming that I am walking down the Avenue Champs Elysee. Where I should have taken a left, instead I took a right…right into Antique Mall of Treasures!

I HEART ANTIQUES: Fabulous Flea Market Finds

As I pass by the plaza in Old Towne Orange I can feel my excitement start to build. A left turn on N. Grand Ave and my adrenaline is now officially in overdrive. It’s the second Saturday of the month, which means the Flea Market will be in full swing from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.

I HEART ANTIQUES: Down Home Antiques to Celebrate 13 Years

A return visit to DOWN HOME ANTIQUES reminds me why this store’s name fits so perfectly! Down Home Antiques’ welcoming warm feeling is evident the moment I walk in, complete with a characteristically enthusiastic “hello” and genuine smile. (Don’t let the sign near their cash register that reads “If you are grouchy, irritable or just plain mean, there will be a $10 charge for putting up with you” fool you because owner Peggy Arbenz’s staff know all about customer service “hospitality” here.)

I HEART ANTIQUES: There’s no place like…Eikon Home

As I entered Eikon home I knew this was going to be a special shopping experience. From the soothing music playing softly in the background to the unique greeting I received from the owner, John Martelli, my expectation did not disappoint. “Enjoy yourself while here” he said and indeed I did.

I HEART ANTIQUES: Cozy Comfort-The Victoria Company

Perhaps it’s the winter weather of late that has made me feel a bit melancholy. Whatever the case, it was no question that a visit to the Victoria Company in Old Towne Orange would be just what I needed to change my mood and leave me with the warm summery feeling I longed for..

I HEART ANTIQUES: Look up, by George!

What seems like just yesterday…I worked for the merchandise division’s visual department at the Happiest Place on Earth. When I left that position, one piece of advice I took away with me was “always look up.” At the time it seemed like rather elementary advice, since at 5′ 2″ I had a tendency to see the world at eye level, missing everything above me.
