Dogs of the Week
Cashew is a 16-week-old neutered male Maltese – Jack Russel Terrier blend who was rescued just prior to being turned in to a high kill shelter as his previous owners felt he was “not a real terrier.” Cashew is super smart, loves to play with other dogs, is good with cats, and enjoys being with gentle children over the age of 8+ years, with previous small dog experience. He is a little sensitive and can be a little needy, wanting to be with you all the time, but he crates well at night and is continuing to build his confidence. Cashew walks very nicely on a leash and being only 7 lbs (and not expected to grow much bigger) is highly portable.
Clarke is a 12-week-old, 5.5 pound neutered male Taco Terrier who ended up at a high kill San Joaquin Valley shelter at the tender age of 6 weeks, and through no fault of his own. He is a chunky little chap who is confident, happy, and super smart. We expect his full grown size to be around 12 pounds! Contact Michele at michele@ocpoundhounds.com if you would like to adopt Clarke!

This is Violet! She has an absolutely incredible rescue story that you can read about HERE. Warning: tissues may be required. Violet was rescued in October 2012, and she is now available for adoption. Violet is spayed, vaccinated appropriately, microchipped, and overall very healthy. She weighs about 11 lbs. and gets along well with other small-breed dogs and older children. She would love a home where she sill be adored and fussed over! Contact Michele at michele@ocpoundhounds.com to adopt Violet!

Misty Blue is a darling, spayed female long-haired chihuahua who was recently rescued from a high kill LA County shelter, where she had ended up through no fault of her own. This pretty, calm and sensible girl is around five years old. She can be snarky with quick movements (probably due to treated with a heavy hand in the past) or when uncertain with what behavior is expected, so a quiet home, with an experienced dog person would be best for Misty. She loves being in the garden with her human and is a pretty good huntress, looking for mice and other little critters. Misty is a dominant female and gets along with other dogs, but likes to be in charge. Misty crates well, is not a barker (except to alert), travels well in the car and walks fair on a leash. If you’re interested in Misty contact Michele at michele@ocpoundhounds.com
Bethany is an adult lab mix currently being fostered in Orange- she LOVES people and is so affectionate and sweet. She gets along well with other dogs and is so patient and kind with our rowdy little beagle! Bethany has had a hard life but you would never know it by the way she treats people. She’s medium energy level and likes to run around but is happy to sit and be petted! She is house trained, uses a doggy door and doesn’t get on furniture- though she doesn’t do well with cats. Contact www.love4canines.org if you are interested in Bethany!
