Have You Listened to ‘A Circle in a Square’ Podcast Yet?

It’s so exciting to announce that we’ve stepped into new territory for I Heart Old Towne Orange. We launched a podcast series called A Circle in a Square where I talk to people that inspire. I, myself, am an avid podcast listener and for me, it’s all about people stories. It took me a while to hone in on the direction for A Circle in a Square, but ultimately I knew I wanted to share stories. I’ve sought out people whose stories started or traveled through our amazing community. Stories that I know will resonate and put a smile on your face as you listen. Tune in every Wednesday for new episodes on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

Here’s the Spiel…

A Circle in a Square is a podcast about following your dreams and noticing how we’re all connected. I live in the heart of a big small town called Orange. Its historic downtown is known as Old Towne and at the juicy center of this one square mile, you’ll find a circle, right there within a square. Once upon a time, it was a mere square where people gathered known as the Plaza, but then a traffic circle was built and the debate between whether it’s The Circle or it’s The Plaza was born.

I write about this place because it’s been reborn over the last 10 years and there’s a lot to say about the sense of community one square mile can bring about. But something about living in a big, small town and being connected with my community inspires me. Getting to know my neighbors, our small business owners and the people that make places so special sparks curiosity in me to know more, to be more aware and to just talk to other people. This people connection is what drives me and if people and their stories drive you, then settle in with me as I dive into these stories that make places that curate moments that inspire.

That’s me!

My Story

In the first episode, you get to know me, Kelly Borgen! I’m a business owner, mompreneur, sibpreneur (when siblings are also partners in business), wife, dreamer, believer, achiever, and founder of I Heart Old Towne Orange (and now podcast host, too!). In this episode, I share my passionate story on how I transitioned from employee to employer. Now, over 10 years after starting I Heart Old Towne Orange, I’m ready to dive into this podcast and share the stories of those I admire with YOU every week! Grab a cup of coffee, hit your morning commute, or settle in and enjoy my first episode.

My Interview with Megan Penn

In my second episode, I chat with Megan Penn: architect, mom, and farmers market guru! We talk about her journey and making the big leap from a corporate job to becoming a founder and Executive Director of Orange Home Grown Farmers & Artisans Market.

Then My Chat with Jack Carlisle

In my third episode, I talk with Jack Carlisle and how he moved to California and fell in love with retail. He moved to Old Towne Orange, which is where he first drove by the location of his current garden store, The Potting Shed. In 2013, Jack left his job and opened his store to make his dream come true. On this episode, Jack talks about how social media has influenced his business, how the community is built, and how he followed his passion.

Nancy Luna, the Fast Food Enabler

Just this week, my chat with the Fast Food Maven was released and I’m so excited about it. I had the chance to have a great conversation with Nancy Luna, an award winning journalist with over 25 years reporting experience. She’s one of my social media role models and we’ve talked over the years about building our brands online. This is an interview you don’t want to miss!

I’ve linked you up to my web page episodes, and you can find all of them right HERE. I also encourage you to go and subscribe on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. New episodes come out each Wednesday. I’m filled with gratitude for everyone that has come on the podcast so far and given me their time and their stories. I’d love for you to go and subscribe and rate and review A Circle in a Square. Your ratings mean so much and will truly help me grow.
