Food Porn Photographer, Blogger, Foodie and Kind Hearted Giver: David Mau

davidMauI gotta tell you, there are major perks to doing what I do and I’m going to lay it out for you right here. I get to meet the coolest people just by making a few quiet clicks of my keyboard. Don’t get me wrong, it’s taken me a few years to get to this place and I’ve worked hard to foster this amazing online community, but it’s all worth it, and for so many reasons. At the end of the day, I don’t feel like I worked hard at all because it feels like fun (and it is!). This is all leading up to my latest connection, who is David Mau. You may know him as Dinner with Dave, or OC Weekly’s Stick a Fork In It blogger (by the way that one links to a post about our beloved Circle/Plaza), or maybe as one of the original owners of The District Lounge…or perhaps you don’t know him at all, like me! If that’s the case, then I’m here to introduce you to him. Here’s the story…

It all started because I was in a bind and desperately needed someone to collect some better-than-good food photography at an event that I could not attend. I called several of my photographer friends first, hoping to pull in a favor and when I did not succeed on the phone, I hit up the I Heart OTO community and boy did I get lucky…although I think rather it’s fate, karma, the whole yin/yang thing (I do put a lot of good out there)… anyway, in comes David Mau, my savior! I was hoping for someone just above par, willing to accept a free dinner in exchange for their talents with a camera and I get AWESOME! Yes, David Mau is an awesome photographer people and I have the food porn photos to prove it, see below!

Mouth watering yet? I just want to eat that salmon right outta that photo, and talk about rolling that beautiful bean footage, give me some of that Chuck Wagon deliciousness right now! Ok, so this is all my way of saying THANK YOU to Dave and all the other photographers who offered up their services at a moment’s notice. I do believe that for every tit, there’s a tat, and this is mine.

You should all take a moment to check out Dave and his many talents on the following links. He’s an amazing photographer, which is essentially his ‘day job’ but you can also find him poking around other spots on the web! Take a look…
