I Heart Old Towne Orange – The Beginning

 In Lifestyle

IMG_7913-e1266625732989I am a wife and mother.  I also have a career in marketing, advertising and social media. And, I live 2 blocks from the border of Old Towne Orange. A border (yes, a distinct border!) which I cross as often as I possibly can. I’ve lived here for 7 years, but it only took me a day to fall in love with The Circle and all it had to offer. I’ve watched Old Towne Orange go through quite a little renaissance over, say, the past 5 years. Whatever the City’s been doing to bring in businesses that resonate with a younger crowd, well, it’s been working.  There was a time, not so long ago, that I didn’t really shop at The Circle, because while I find antiques to be unique and beautiful, they just weren’t my personal style and The Circle didn’t offer much else. However, that’s all changed. Now, I can find most anything that I’m looking for there (other than clothes, that is).  It has really evolved and become a place that has something to offer every generation.

Recently, I was pondering the wonderful world of Social Media (which is something I basically do on a daily basis) and I was trying to figure out how I could apply social media to something I really loved, to see what could come of it. I thought of 2 things: Food and Old Towne Orange. I do admit, I thought of Food first and I launched a social network called ‘youfoody.’  It has been quite a fun experience. It wasn’t until nearly a year later that I started really thinking about starting this blog and, of course, Facebook for Old Towne Orange.  I did a little research to see what others were doing for our great community, and was shocked to come up with nada and I mean zilch!  The City (sorry city, but we need to talk) has a terrible website that doesn’t say anything about Old Towne (nothing that promotes it anyway), there aren’t any other blogs, media channels, nothing specifically for OTO. Unbelievable and a great opportunity for me!

So, here I am and I truly heart Old Towne Orange. I have started this adventure on my own time and my own dime and I hope you enjoy reading along.  Most of all, I hope you are inspired to frequent OTO more often and explore all its wonderful restaurants, galleries and shops!

Peace and Love…Kelly

Me and my girl!
