A guide to Old Towne Orange
Orange Home Grown Farmers & Artisans Market is celebrating Random Act of Mendez (RAM) in honor of the 70-year anniversary of the landmark Orange County school desegregation case Mendez v. Westminster. RAM is an Emmy-winning documentary that launched this fall to celebrate Mendez and promote community peace. What better way to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month?
‘RAMbassadors’ will be making and handing out Random Act of Mendez bracelets at the Orange Home Grown Farmers & Artisans Market on October 15, 2016. Have your picture taken with the vintage 1967 VW Mendez mobile that has traveled across the country promoting the history of Mendez v. Westminster.
At 1 pm, visitors will Random Ramble – take an historic walk for a photo opportunity on the steps of the last standing Mexican school building from the segregation era in Orange County – the Cypress Street School owned by Chapman University.
