DIY Centerpiece Spotlight

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is only one week away! Now that the days are officially shorter, and the nights are definitely colder, we can’t help but get excited for the celebrations that this time of year hosts. If loved ones will be gathering around your table for Thanksgiving, don’t get caught frantically pulling together last minute details. To ensure precious family time is truly enjoyed, begin your preparations now! Getting the tedious tasks (like shopping and food prep) out of the way, leaves room for the satisfying and enjoyable pleasure of adding your home decorating touches!

Colorful centerpieces instantly add a warm and sophisticated touch to any holiday table. A beautiful table setting is a perfect way to make your guests fall under the season’s spell. Thanksgiving dinner is centered around the dining table, so why not create an enchanting feast for the eyes? Aside from dining tables, a beautiful harvest arrangement can be placed anywhere in your home. This DIY project is totally customizable by altering its size and shape. What better way to honor this cherished holiday than with a beautiful harvest of fruits and vegetables? I was inspired on my weekly excursion to the Orange Home Grown Farmers and Artisans Market. The warm, rich colors around almost every corner influenced this natural and earthly toned centerpiece that radiates a beautiful autumn palette.

Materials used:

Safari Sunset leaves (Maldonado Farms)

Small Pumpkin (The Potting Shed by Carlisle truck from previous trip)

2 Yellow Squash (Black Sheep Farms)

Small bouquet of fall foliage (Maldonado Farms)

4 Fuyu Permissions (Sunny Cal Farms)

Bunch of Grapes (Sunny Cal Farms)

Follow our creation, or personalize it with your favorite fall items from the market. Start by arranging the beautiful Safari Sunset leaves on the center of the table. The maroon peeking through the greenery adds a rich fall hue to the center piece.

Next, place larger items where appropriate, while trying to fill in any major gaps between the leaves.  The bright yellow striped squash creates a bold and eye catching addition among the vegetables at the farmers market.  Fuji Permissions are also a fall favored item. If you haven’t tried this delicious fruit, you must see what the rage is all about!

Top the look off with some grape vines and autumn inspired foliage. Trim any stems that may be sticking out with a scissors. I couldn’t resist adding a few votive candles to create a warm glow around the centerpiece. It really is that simple and takes minimal time to assemble.
