Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! Have you been enjoying the cooler weather in Old Towne Orange? I’ve enjoyed dusting off my winter jackets for the chillier evenings, personally. As we’re officially in the most wonderful time of the year, there are more events, workshops, and ways to give back than ever before! (PS. This week, we’re talking about Tiddlywinks! And moreover, we’re talking about their toy drive! If you don’t know, Tiddlywinks Toys and Games is your classic toy store experience: they sell stuffed animals, electronic toys, board games, small prizes, and more! Nestled on North Glassell Street, you can’t miss them with their amazing window display of stuffed animals, toy trucks, and holiday decor.
This December, Tiddlywinks is hosting a Holiday Toy Drive in partnership with Orange Children and Parents Together (OCPT), a non-profit organization serving low-income families with children ages 0-5. On their website, their mission statement is, “Orange Children & Parents Together, a nonprofit organization established in 1967, is committed to providing family-friendly, community-based programs that enhance children’s growth, strengthen families, and foster healthy communities.” Through this organization, over 27,000 hours of community service are donated each year, over 1,300 books are donated each year, and 6 million meals have been served to at-risk children since 1967.
And luckily, this year we can do our part to support Orange Children and Parents Together by donating to the toy drive at Tiddlywinks right here in Old Towne Orange. Here’s how it works:
- Go into Tiddlywinks and pick a name off of their tree! You can read the child’s name and age.
- Pick out a toy for them from the store!
- Purchase it.
- Attach the name to the gift and drop it in the donation box!
It’s that simple! These gifts will be delivered to children from the OCPT program for Christmas, and all it takes is stopping by Tiddlywinks this week! We can’t thank Tiddlywinks and Orange Children and Parents Together for their service and the opportunity to give back to our community in Orange.
