What’s Coming Up in OTO

Old Towne Orange is always going through changes and we’ve got the scoop for you. There are three new places opening up in Old Towne Orange including Afters Ice Cream, Philz Coffee, and Brewery 1886. Let’s be honest, you can’t have enough ice cream or coffee shops.

Afters Ice Cream

PC: @aftersicecream

We were so sad to hear that A La Minute closed their doors on March 22. Unfortunately, if you ever get that A La Minute craving you might have to plan a mini adventure because the closest locations are in Redlands, Claremont, and Temecula. They truly had some one-of a kind delicious treats, my favorite was the orange and honey. Even though we are sad to see them go, it’s exciting to know that a new ice cream shop called Afters is moving in.

According to the representative I spoke to, Afters Ice Cream plans to open their doors within a month. That means just after Easter you can enjoy some fun new creations at the plaza, which is perfect timing because the warm weather is quickly approaching. Afters Ice Cream is in over 20 locations including Tustin and Irvine. They are known for having very unique and creative flavors like French Toast Churro, Milk and Cereal, Cookie Monster, and Jasmine Milk Tea. Also, if you want to pick up some Rick and Morty swag, this is the place to go.

Philz Coffee

It sure was nice to get your oil changed at the University Auto Center while enjoying lunch at the Filling Station right across the street. We’re sad to see them go but happy to welcome Philz coffee to the plaza. Rumor has it that the coffee shop won’t be open for at least 6 months. This coffee joint is most popular in the Bay area but they’ve expanded to SoCal as well as Chicago and Washington D.C.

Philz coffee got their start over 25 years ago and have expanded to over 50 locations. Philz is known for being a customer-oriented made to order coffee shop. What’s cool about Philz is that it’s as if each cup is made exactly for you. They focus on customized blends of coffee as well as featured blends of the month rather than lattes and mochas like most coffee shops. They recommend that if you don’t know what to get, enjoy your first cup “Philz Way” which is a medium sweet with cream.

Brewery 1886

If you’re a local you might have heard that George’s Antiques has moved away from Old Towne Orange. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, I bet you’ve noticed the front facade. The elaborate wood doors and windows in the front facade add that special touch to the charm of Old Towne Orange. This shop is located right in between Pandor Artisan Bakery and Citrus City Grille. Word on the street is that a brewery will be opening this October called Brewery 1886, a concept by Smoqued BBQ partners Mike Hernandez and  Drew Ciora, who have been friends since 1992.

We want to welcome all of the new members of the Old Towne Orange community and we hope that all of the newcomers will fall in love with this area just as we have.
