Longtime Old Towne Orange Staple Closing

Old Towne Orange is lined with a wide array of shops that we all know and LOVE. From Tiddlywinks to SunSpark Yoga, these businesses make up the very fabric of our community…and one of our favorites that has been a constant staple in OTO is officially saying a sad farewell.

Rod’s Liquor has been calling 118 West Chapman Avenue home for 71 YEARS! It was opened in 1949 by Rod Fraser, a World War II pilot, and his family has continued running the business ever since his passing in 1981. Tomorrow, January 31, they’ll officially close their doors.

“We have deep roots in Orange and we will always be active in the city,” said the Fraser family. They currently own several Rodrigo’s Mexican Grill locations and they are excited for their new venture with Bosscat Kitchen and Libations. The restaurant is set to open sometime later this year and will be leasing the location from the Fraser’s.

There have been too many wonderful memories to count in this store over the past seven decades, and it will definitely be strange not seeing that signature LIQUOR sign on the corner (although they may actually be keeping the sign). “We are feeling bittersweet, excited, and sad after so many years of calling this incredible community home.”
