Hawaii, Meet Orange! New Eatery Opening Soon.
Have you noticed all the construction happening next door to Snooze, an AM Eatery? If you’re a local, then you’ve likely seen the official sign recently installed for Fork and Salad above that new construction. We did some outreach to get the scoop. Fork and Salad is a healthy, fast-casual restaurant serving salads, grain bowls, sandwiches, and soups. They also carry the culture of Hawaii. Just thinking about all the fresh ingredients of Hawaii makes me hungry for this place.
The main concept of Fork and Salad is to make sure that farm to table food is convenient, affordable and delicious. The restaurant is in a 1,535-square-foot space within a historically-restored building and can seat 45 guests. They’re a healthy fast-casual dining experience with 50+ fresh ingredients, signature salads, grain bowls, sandwiches and soups served up with an island vibe rooted in Maui. The image below is just a design sketch of Fork and Salad since they are still under construction. If you’re like me, maybe you wondered why an establishment in Hawaii would be setting eyes on us, so I asked! Here’s what owner (one of 3) Travis Morrin had to say:
We were completely charmed by Old Towne Orange from the get-go. As part of the National Register of Historic Places, it’s been a gathering place for residents and visitors for more than 100 years, and we love that its rich history remains reflected in its plaza, architecture and buildings. We respect and embrace that; in fact, we’ve done our best to incorporate the original brick into the restaurant design. One cool thing about Orange is that it not only honors the past, but also welcomes the future! It’s an emerging area that attracts a lot of young people, with Chapman University nearby and well-known national brands planting flags there. Plus it’s easy to enjoy Old Towne Orange; a 600-space parking structure recently opened, literally one block away from Fork & Salad!
This will be their third corporate location and the first in California. The other two eateries are in Kahului and Kihei on the island of Maui in Hawaii! I mean, I’m not ‘not’ excited that they are opening up here in Orange! I do hope that they make the connection, especially when it comes to purchasing their fresh veggies, to our very own Orange Home Grown Farmers & Artisans Market. Why not take advantage of the local produce California has to offer, am I right? Not to mention, their hashtag is #EatLocalEatHealthy – so will they buy locally? I did find out their current supplier sources 90% of produce locally from Southern and Central California farms and they are currently exploring a way to partner with Orange Home Grown, yay!
They are planning to open soon (June according to their Instagram, with a tentative Grand Opening date of June 21, according to a consultant), so as soon as we get the skinny we will let you know.
