Autumn Aroma and Tastes in Old Towne Orange

Fall is still upon us, and we hope you’ve been enjoying all the wonderful pleasures that favorite season has to offer. Yes, it’s true, we love autumn around here! In case you missed some of our latest blog posts, we’ve pretty much covered the full fall spectrum. Starting with our favorite places to shop fall decor, to recipes featuring seasonal produce from the Orange Home Grown Farmers and Artisans Market we’ve definitely been making a harvest of memories this year.

Who doesn’t love a good old fashioned pumpkin spiced latte or ‘PSL’ as the fans call it. It’s hard to believe that Starbucks started the craze over a decade ago in 2003. Since then, the national coffee shop put the delicious seasonal flavors on the radar, and they are now the most highly anticipated autumn perks. It’s officially been fall for about a month now, and we are obviously not ready to bid our farewells. Although we will soon start to see shops highlighting their holiday merchandise, we still have the full month of November to enjoy the glow of autumn. We want to continue to fall in love with the season before we prepare to hibernate for the winter. Luckily, there are many places around Old Towne Orange where you can still savor the flavors of the season!

Did someone say PSL?! If you’re searching for an authentic pumpkin flavored beverage, you absolutely NEED to try the pumpkin spiced latte from The Pie Hole. Hands down, their PSL is the richest and creamiest latte we have ever tasted! Not only is it delicious, but unnamedthey top it off with a picture perfect coffee design art pattern. Their seasonal latte specials vary throughout the season, so there always an offering that appeals to everyone. If pumpkin spice isn’t your cup of tea, (or should we say coffee) they’re Salted Caramel Latte is a delicious alternative! Once you step foot into their shop and take in the aroma of their tasty pies, it’s pretty difficult to surpass a little slice of heaven. If your looking to fulfill your fall flavor addiction, then they’ve got you in the pie department as well. Mom’s apple crumble, Moe’s Pumpkin Pie and Cinnamon Sugar Pecan Hand Pie, are only a taste of the many flavors you can’t help but devour at The Pie Hole.unnamed-2

Since the weather isn’t always fall appropriate in Old Towne, we are thankful there are many destinations where we can cool down. What better way to beat the heat during one of our 90 degree autumn days than with a with a delicious scoop of ice cream?  à la Minute has unique and gourmet flavors year round, however there is one flavor that we always look forward to in the fall – Pumpkin and Spiced Chai Ice Cream. This frozen dessert is to die for! We recommend you target this on your fall foods list of “must eat” before the season is over! Make this tasty treat truly your own by topping it off with a delicious drizzle of your choice. We suggest trying the Spiced Rum Butter or Clotted Cream Sauce. Even during a warm SoCal autumn day you can still experience what fall is all about in OTO.

If you want to enjoy an action packed NFL Sunday or need to kick back after a long work week we suggest doing it with some of our favorite autumn beers! Provisions Market has an extensive list of beverages in their shops which you could almost spend the entire day looking through! Whether you are in the mood for a refreshing pint in-house or prefer unnamed-1to take some home they have something for everyone. While reviewing their wide array of beers available there were some seasonal specials that caught our eye. Avery Brewing Co has their famous Pumpkin Ale which is a bourbon barrel-aged pumpkin porter paired with cinnamon and spiced nutmeg.  Perhaps take home a 4 pack of the Dogfish HeadPunkin Ale for a lighter alternative. If brewskies aren’t your thing, consider trying a bottle of Reverent Hard Cider. This refreshing bottle of cider tastes like freshly picked Washington-grown apples and is sweetened naturally with piloncillo sugar cane. Seriously, it’s amazing!

The season isn’t over! Enjoy the last weeks of the most colorful time of the year. One stroll down to the circle and we guarantee you will be re-inspired to partake in your favorite fall activities in Old Towne Orange.

Happy Fall!
