Welcome to 2017, Old Towne Orange! As we get settled into January and recover from our fabulous holiday vacays, you might be happily waving 2016 goodbye and welcoming a fresh start, or... you could be feeling quite the opposite. Maybe 2016 brought you a bounty of happiness, and the thought of saying farewell has you feeling a little blue. Whatever the case, our little town is still here, thriving, and ready to greet you with open arms! And we have the perfect activity to help you kick off the new year.
If you’ve never signed up for a workshop at The Potting Shed with owner Jack Carlisle, this needs to go on your To Do List for 2017, ASAP! Back in October for my birthday, the I Heart OTO crew and some close friends helped me celebrate – we built our very own succulent arrangements!
Before we arrived, Jack turned his cozy garden shed into the ultimate workshop space. For the first step, we chose our pieces of driftwood, each one having their own unique shape. Look how gorgeous!
Once we picked out homes for our little succulents, Jack gave us a crash course on how to create a proper arrangement. Best teacher ever!
Then, we picked out our plants!
Now for the fun part! It was time to dig in and get our hands dirty.
We had a blast!
After we arranged our plants into the soil, Jack helped us add some pretty orange moss as a final finishing touch.
I’d say this was a pretty successful birthday celebration! This is also a great idea for a girls night out, a small company outing, or just a fun thing to do for the joy of gardening.
Come and make your own arrangements! If you’d like to attend a workshop like we did, you can contact the shop at (714) 468-5154, or you can stop by and talk to Jack in person! The Potting Shed is located at 401 W. Chapman Ave. in Orange.
Happy Planting, everyone!
