Hey everyone! Sunday, December 11th is the night to go check out the holiday lights around Old Towne because everyone’s decorations will be in full effect! From 6-8pm, Old Towne Preservation Association (OTPA) judges will be cruising the streets of OTO for the annual holiday decorating contest. The judges for this year’s competition will be three OTO merchants who are non-residents. OTPA will hand out awards for the following: Best Use of Lights, Most Old-Fashioned, Most Original, Best Block and Most Beautiful. Have your house ready by Sunday if you want a chance to win one of these awards!

On Thursday, October 27th from 4-7pm, the Circle of Old Towne Orange will be covered with trick or treaters! The Treats in the Streets Autumn Festival is back again with fun activities planned for the entire family to enjoy! There will be games, trick or treating, a costume parade, and entertainment for everyone who attends! There will also be delicious food and treats available for a small charge from local non-profit groups. Parents are asked to leave masks and pets at home. If you’ve ever been interested in the historic homes in Old Towne Orange, your chance to explore them from the inside is coming soon. On November 5th and 6th, the Old Towne Preservation Association (OTPA) is hosting home tours of six historical homes in Old Towne. Visitors during the home tour are able to get a taste of Old Towne Orange’s historic past and understand more about why this is such a great place to live. This event only happens every two years so be sure to attend!

Mark your calendars for the next Old Towne Preservation Association membership meeting – June 8, at The French Estate where you will hear from experts from the Fullerton Arboretum, the largest botanical garden in Orange County. Since 1979, the Fullerton Arboretum has served as a premier resource for ecological, horticultural and historical education.

Mark your calendars now for the next OTPA general membership meeting Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at 6:30 p.m., at a new location! Join us at Ruby’s Diner at the Historic Orange Train Depot, where we will hear from the founders of Orange Home Grown, Inc., who are launching a Saturday Farmers and Artisans Market in Old Towne in May. Come mingle with your neighbors and enjoy the free sliders hosted by Ruby’s, and learn about the next great tradition coming to Old Towne Orange. As always, there will be door prizes!

Please join the Old Towne Preservation Association for an evening of fine wines and hors d’oeuvre offered amidst a setting of live music and fine art. The event will feature a variety of foods and wines of Mediterranean Europe that have played a vital role in the development of California cuisine.
