I Heart on the Hunt: Intern Style

Written by Kelci Douglas, Intern Extraordinaire and Recent Chapman U Graduate

I-144x144Hey you, yes you! Do you love Old Towne Orange and want to show everyone how amazing it is? Are you a junior, senior or recent graduate? Are you an expert with social media? Would you like to learn more about using online buzz marketing software?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then you need to check this position out. I Heart Old Towne Orange is searching for their newest intern to join the team starting NOW until the end of this year. It is about a six month, paid internship (whaatttt!!!). You can't beat that!

For this internship, you must have a passion for social media. Knowledge of how to use Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter are necessary. If you always think of punny lines to caption your photos, then even better! You must be eager to learn new technologies, and be able to adapt to changing technologies. We are looking for someone who is a quick learner, and who yearns to learn more in each area of their job. You must love spending time in the community of OTO, because that is what this position is all about! A creative thinker will thrive in this internship. The intern must be a junior, senior or recent graduate of a university.

Let me tell you, interning at IHOTO has been such a rewarding experience. I have learned so much about the marketing world, different technologies that exist to help you navigate through advertising and promoting, and most importantly, I have been able to spend a ton of time getting to know the community of Old Towne Orange. Getting to spend time in OTO has definitely been one of the best parts of this internship. From trying different foods, going on shopping excursions at the Farmers Market, and exploring the cute boutiques. Not to mention, the team you get to work with at Get Community is pretty fantastic, too! 😉

This internship is a perfect lead into a marketing or advertising position. It prepares you and teaches you several things that will be necessary to know when going into a full-time position. Not only that, but you get experience talking with community members about their jobs so you are able to write up great blog posts. This internship is a great gateway to landing yourself an amazing job after you graduate or after the internship ends. There is a possibility to grow with Get Community as well.

This position's daily activities include but are not limited to:

  • Checking in with social media outlets
  • Looking for events in OTO
  • Posting about events, happenings, new restaurants or drinks you found
  • Scheduling posts for later dates
  • Responding to community members
  • Writing fun, exciting blogs
  • Composing a weekly newsletter
  • Using Canva to create beautiful images to use on social media and the newsletter
  • Going into the community to eat, drink and play....then post about it!
  • Collaborate with team members to "hunt" for the best of the best in OTO

If one or ALL of these bullets above catch your eye, then don't delay! Contact Kelly at kelly@getcommunity.com right now. She is on the hunt for her newest intern and would love to meet YOU.
