Acupuncture is Awesome!

I am a big proponent of Acupuncture, Osteopaths and other non-traditional types of treating your body’s issues. There have been many times in my life that I have used these types of doc’s to heal whatever it is that I’ve done to myself. Though, there was this one time that my step-dad gave me whiplash while trying to steal my winnings from a very serious game of Kanasta (so that, I didn’t do to myself). Yep, he tried to steal a quarter from me and won! I had to go to the ER and had neck problems for EVER that were finally healed from a wonderful Osteopath in Santa Barbara, my first taste of non-traditional methods of healing. Since then, I’ve been hooked.

She was extremely thorough with me, which I very much appreciated. Like a lot of women out there (maybe some men too) I have lots of different little issues going on and I got to go over all of them with Dr. Ashli who was very attentive and curious about what I was telling her. Once we were done (which I would say was a good 20 minutes), we got down to the business of the ‘needles.’ Nothing to be afraid about by the way, because you can barely feel them, if at all. Sometimes a little pinch and slight discomfort that lasts only momentarily. Once those are in, you just get to lay there and think. I always kind of love doing acupuncture because the doctor leaves the room and you have 20-30* minutes to just think with NO interruptions…might be reason enough to go!

Dr. Ashli was very perceptive about my different issues and putting them together with food and diet and overall wellness. She gave me some very interesting advice about how she thinks I should be eating based on my body’s deficiencies and I have taken many of her suggestions and incorporated them into my life. While I was ‘thinking‘, she printed out a bunch of stuff for me to take home about the things we’d talked about. As you can see, I really liked her. In fact, I’m going back because she’s right down the road and we’ve got a bit more work to do.
