September Kick-Off

September... It arrived so fast! We can hardly believe we are approaching the end of another 2016 season. Although we certainly are sad to say goodbye to summer, there are so many things to look forward to in fall. It's not quite time to break out the sweaters and sip on hot apple cider, but there is one thing that gets us excited for the season -- Football! Get out the pom-poms because September 8th marks week one of the NFL season. Even if you're not currently a football fan you soon will be. This year we welcome back the new and improved Los Angeles Rams to SoCal! As if California needed a fourth NFL team, it’s inevitable that you will see more of the Rams signature blue, gold, and white football attire being sported around town.

If you haven't caught the football fever, then maybe it’s because you haven't been with the right crowd or in a stimulating atmosphere to watch the game. Many people who don’t appreciate the sport often comment that it's perhaps dry and boring. This couldn’t be further from the truth! If you’re sitting at home while trying to convince your husband or boyfriend to explain the game, you’re doing it all wrong! The key to staying engaged is having your favorite drink and munchies while watching with a crowd that's rooting for the same team. Once you find your go-to spot you’ll be forever hooked!

You maybe wondering what the best places are in Old Towne Orange to watch the games imageedit_2_5580433022every Thursday and Sunday. Don’t worry we’ve got you covered! Whether you like a more lively or laid back environment we’ll guide you in the ultimate NFL direction.

Hands down, the best place to watch a football game is O’Haras Pub. The little (technically dive bar) is always packed with fans on game day. The bar itself is relatively small but you’ll surely get into the intimate crowd spirit. Football is worshipped here. This is made evident with the enormous amount of NFL decor hanging on every inch of the ceiling. Whichever game is playing they’ll have it on one of their multitude of televisions behind the bar. The young locals love this spot because you’ll find a lot of Chapman University students here (when they're o-1not hard at work studying that is!) If Sunday games aren't dragging you out of bed to O’Haras, their Bloody Mary's will. These are not ordinary Sunday cocktails. When you order a bloody from O’Hara’s Pub you’ll also be snacking on a hamburger slider, tater tots, shrimp, and even a piece of bacon. Enough said.

The District Lounge is also a favorite amongst the sports fans in Orange. With their big screen TV’s scattered across the bar you’ll have a VIP seat wherever you’re sitting. You’ll definitely go for the wide assortments of well-made drinks, but also end up sticking around for the tasty food. Here, you’ll be chowing down on some delicious grub while watching the game. The friendly bartenders certainly know how to make a good drink and the servers are always on top of their game. o-2This is a great place to socialize with friends and listen to good music while watching the game. The District Lounge is the type of place where time flies because you're having so much fun!

If you’re looking for something a little more low key there are plenty of other Old Towne options. Try Burger Parlor if you want to have a delicious burger and cold beer as your teammates. The television is located on the brick wall and it's always playing major sports events. If brunch is your thing, head over to Watson's Soda Fountain Cafe. They have a full bar and amazing breakfast and lunch options you can have while enjoying the game. After you eat, head over to the brand new Chapman Crafted breweryo-3 and tasting room. This is a great laid back location to enjoy craft beer and discuss all the plays of the game. Read our full blog post about Chapman Crafted HERE. We couldn't help but mention the newest player in the game: The Wall. Although they’re not open yet, we have a feeling this will be one of our new go-to favorite spots this football season!
