When I first moved to Old Towne Orange, I Googled “vegan restaurants near me,” so I could explore what plant-based energy Southern California had to offer! The first hit on my search results was Mead’s Green Door Cafe. Ever since that day, I have been visiting Mead’s (as the local’s call it) every so often to get my fix of delicious plant-based food! Directly from the website, Mead’s states, “The Green Door symbolizes a greener way of living where we can nourish our bodies in a way that helps raise the vibrations of everyone that enters. We look forward to seeing you soon.” Walking through the door is truly opening your life to fresh, green ingredients. Mead’s is always busy with Chapman students and locals doing homework and enjoying each other’s company.
And one of the best things about Mead’s is their interior design. Stepping into the restaurant feels like walking into a psychedelic, colorful, homemade kitchen. The decorations all feel hand crafted and special. There is even a love note-writing station and a bucket to pour the water you didn’t drink in so Mead’s can water the plants. Mead’s is always thinking!
Last Friday, after work, I just had to stop by Mead’s to grab an afternoon snack. Mead’s offers everything from buffalo cauliflower to pizza to pastries to – my favorite – the Sriracha Bomb Burger! So yummy! On Friday when I stopped by, I was in the mood for a light snack so I asked the cashier what her recommendation would be. She suggested I get the avocado toast and the quinoa chili.
The toast had a sprinkle of nutritional yeast, known in the vegan community to give food a “cheesy” flavor. I don’t know if I buy that, but it did taste great!
And the chili was so delicious! I love quinoa because it is a super healthy grain packed with protein, fiber, and all 9 essential amino acids! I could not recommend enough that you visit Mead’s Green Door Cafe this weekend! You will not de disappointed in their food, ambiance, and overall experience.
Have a great weekend everyone and we will see you in Old Towne!
P.S. If you are vegan, I ran across an amazing Vegan Calculator while doing my research for this blog post. Check it out! I have saved 902,000 gallons of water by being vegan for 2 years and 3 months! Let’s save the planet and visit Mead’s Green Door Cafe!
P.S.S. If you are interested in buying any of the artwork in Mead’s, go ahead and ask! Much of it is for sale!
