I HEART ANTIQUES: Look up, by George!

What seems like just yesterday…I worked for the merchandise division’s visual department at the Happiest Place on Earth. When I left that position, one piece of advice I took away with me was “always look up.” At the time it seemed like rather elementary advice, since at 5′ 2″ I had a tendency to see the world at eye level, missing everything above me.

Spring Day Fun at the Friendly Center: April 2 & 3

Friendly Center is hosting its annual Spring Fun Days for children in the local community from low-income families. We need help by donating small baskets with goodies inside. Each basket should include: a personal hygiene item (toothbrush/toothpaste, shampoo, or body wash), sweet treats and a small toy or book.

I was at today’s State of the City Address and Carolyn gave a great speech, with a terrific look back at the city of Orange. If you missed it…her speech is below.

Wahoo for Wahoo’s

As many of you probably know, Wahoo’s Fish Taco opened it’s doors in Old Towne Orange at the end of last month. Wahoo’s already won me over years ago with their delicious Maui bowls, cajun chicken tacos and special green sauce so I was excited when Kelly suggested we go check out their new location.

Guerilla Beekeepers are Seriously “The Bees Knees”

This story is about Guerilla Beekeepers, and it started because my lovely neighbors Shannon and Alex had a hive that needed removing…and I got a text about what a great story this would make on my blog! In no time at all, I received a call from Bill Walter, we had an exchange, and now I’m writing about him. Their bee biz is located in Silverado Canyon, but they can be found at our very own Farmer’s and Artisans Market each Saturday morning. In fact, I’ve already bought their honey several times and found it to be DELISH!

I Heart Antiques: Down Home All The Way!

One step into Down Home Antiques tells you right away that you are in for something special. It starts with the warm, welcoming “hello” from a member of owner Peggy Arbenz’s staff, a verbal embrace that says, “Come on in! My, it’s good to see you. Hope you’ll stay for a spell.” Recently, I did just that, and oh!—the treasures I saw.
