In June, the City of Orange was host to the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall as part of its mission to serve the veterans and families of those who served in Vietnam, many of whom would not have the opportunity to come to the permanent memorial in Washington DC. Orange was the only stop scheduled in California as the wall makes its way around the country.

Businesses in OTO, Featured »
You may have noticed a new business in town called Matoska Trading Company. They’ve been open for several months now and I most recently had the chance to go in and learn a little more about what they sell to share with you, as I myself, was quite curious. If you haven’t seen their storefront, I’m sure you’ve perhaps smelled it because when their doors are open the distinct notes of Sage are wafting down the street.

Dining »
This is by no means an official review, but Blue Frog Cafe opened up today their new burger joint right across from Zito’s and down the corridor from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I stopped by for lunch and had a delicious turkey burger with blue cheese buffalo sauce and chips on it. They had several burgers on the menu (the buns were really good), as well as other sandwiches, salads and sides. They are also selling some of their yummy sweets that they have over at the Bakery on the other side of Glassell. I’ll definitely be back and will write a review on them in a few weeks once they’ve had a chance to settle in. In the meantime, head on over to check out the newest restaurant in towne.

We surmised that there must be some drug bust happening around, but ran on…

Art, Events »
On July 15th, there is a new exhibit starting at Copperwood Artware that will be going on through August 21st. It is a solo exhibit featuring the artwork of Darcie Copeland. The theme of the exhibit is “What is a Rebus?” Come to the gallery and view Darcie’s artwork to play the Rebus game, which they call the “Darcie game” at Copperwood Artware. A Rebus (or Darcie) game involves solving a rebus puzzle which uses obvious and hidden clues in the artwork so that the viewer can guess the title of the piece. The reception for the artist is Saturday, July 16th from 6 to 9 pm. For more information, please go HERE.

Philanthropy, The Circle »
I’m sure that most of you are familiar with the Orange Assistance League and all they do for our community. What you may not know is that they have a thrift shop right in the Circle which is currently being renovated. I know that many of you care about the preservation of Old Towne Orange, so why not help out a local philanthropic organization by giving them a simple vote.
