Ok, so I am LOVING LOVING this chick Amanda and what she is venturing in to. If you’re like me then you’re probably going to LOVE this too. So, Amanda is launching a new business and it’s in the arena of food, which makes it even more exciting to me. She is starting Amanda’s Old Towne Kitchen for busy families who want to eat a wholesome home-cooked dinner but don’t have time to make it themselves. Of course, you don’t have to be a family in the typical stereotypical way, because you can pick up dinner for 1, 2, 4 or more.

There is an amazing 13-room Haunted House in Old Towne Orange to take the kids to this Thursday and Friday from 5pm – 9pm. The house is geared towards kids 10 and under, which means no blood and gore, just good old-fashioned scare tactics that make it fun for the little ones without traumatizing them!

Recently, I had the opportunity to take a tour of Park Plaza, which is a local senior living community run by Kisco Senior Living. Now, I’ve had ‘some’ exposure to these types of communities both personally and professionally. My grandparents, who passed on several years ago, lived in a senior community when the time became right for them and my other grandparents, who are living, are starting to think about this as an option for themselves, but aren’t ready to leave their cozy home just yet!

Just last month, the OC Register released their 2010 Best of Orange County winners and guess what…we topped that list (by my count) with 15 spots… I don’t know about you, but I think that makes us pretty awesome!
First I’ll tell you what hot spots topped the list and then I’ll give you a few honorable mentions, not specifically in OTO, but I had to get a few ‘shout-outs’ in.
Topping the list, of course, is the undeniable fact that our fabulous Plaza has been voted as the #1 downtown in all of Orange County

If you’ve been meaning to get your hair cut then this is a great incentive. It’s the Jill Foundation’s 1st Annual Cut for the Cure. This event isn’t exactly in OTO, but it is in Orange and it’s for a great cause. For a $15 donation you can get a shampoo and cut. There will also be $1 raffle tickets for lots of great prizes. The event takes place at Artistic Hair, who has put on this event for the last 13 years and has raised over $100,000 for the American Cancer Society. This year, they started the Jill Foundation, in honor of their co-worker and friend Jill Etzold Kester, who lost her battle to breast cancer 6 years ago. This foundation was formed to help hairdressers in the City of Orange who are stricken with this disease.
